This memorial Charles III Sovereign coin was released to commemorate the celebrated reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. It features the first portrait of His Majesty the King Charles III and is the first official gold coin to feature the new monarch’s effigy. The reverse of the memorial sovereign displays a new highly detailed coat of arms. Memorial Charles III Sovereign 2022 and all other sovereigns are minted in 22ct gold and have been so since the original “modern” design was issued in 1817.
